Renishaw is preparing to unveil its advanced metal 3D printing technology at Formnext in November. The new system, an advancement of their RenAM 500 series, claims to cut build times by up to 50% without compromising on part quality. Detailed specifics remain under wraps; however, the technology’s potential to decrease cost per part, a major hurdle for broader AM adoption, has been emphasized.
Louise Callanan, Director of Additive Manufacturing at Renishaw, highlighted the company’s dedication to enhancing AM productivity. The updated RenAM 500 series, reputedly the market’s most productive, can now operate at double its previous speed. This substantial productivity leap reduces the cost per component and expands its application range.
In previous discussions, Callanan hinted at the forthcoming next-gen metal AM technology and the significance of offering a holistic solution for AM industrialization. Building on its commitment to quality assurance, Renishaw plans to introduce a quality management toolkit for AM.
Callanan expressed their aspiration to not only heighten productivity but also furnish users with superior quality management resources. These tools aim to instill confidence in operators by providing them with crucial data, control, and transparency during the process. Renishaw’s innovations aim to solidify process foundations and ensure machine performance for consistent high-quality outputs.
At the event, attendees can also view the four-laser RenAM 500Q and the R&D-centric RenAM 500 Flex, along with various application narratives.
